Providing high quality assessments within law proceedings for over 15 years

Over the years, we have been able to expand our provision of assessments on asylum and immigration matters.

Our diverse network of experts means that we are often able to offer a cultural or linguistic match; where this cannot be achieved, we can offer experts with strong experience in working with interpreters. This can be beneficial in rapport-building and information gathering.

We recognise the anxieties attached to such assessments and where a client has a preferred interpreter (who may have followed them through proceedings), we will seek to preserve this arrangement.

Our network of experts

Our experts have a wealth of experience in providing assessments within the asylum and immigration sector

While the above offers a general indication of what could be covered in an assessment within criminal proceedings, we are happy to assist you in identifying the right expert for your client or case. A number of our experts have specific CVs which reflect how their expertise can be applied to immigration matters; where you have any questions about aspects of an expert’s CV, we can help you find answers to provide clarity on what can and cannot be achieved through different types of assessment.

Our safer recruitment process ensures that the experts we provide are in good standing with the relevant professional and regulatory bodies and that they have the necessary skills and experience. All experts hold appropriate insurance and are subject to DBS checks before undertaking any work.

*We recognise that standard cognitive assessment tools may be normed for those from a Western population, whose primary language is English. In these circumstances, experts will discuss the methodology for their assessments and what can realistically be achieved prior to commencing work.

Asylum and immigration issues covered in an assessment include:

  • Working with individuals for whom English is not their first language
  • The impact of deportation and extradition on family life
  • Risk attached to an individual’s return to their country of origin
  • Age assessments
  • Cognitive assessments*
  • Mental health assessment
  • Honour-based violence
  • Working with victims of torture
  • Criminal and sexual exploitation
  • Risk assessments
  • Risk of re-offending
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder and Complex Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Family dynamics
  • Reaching an understanding of an individual’s journey to the UK
