Sir Ernest Ryder spoke at BASPCAN’s 10th Annual Congress on 9th April 2018 on ‘The Role of the Justice System in Decision-making for Children’.
Sir Ryder hones in on judges and professionals within the Family Court being armed with the latest research evidence to inform their decisions and one of the 10 areas which he identifies as requiring a ‘best practice guide’ is the use of expert witnesses so I imagine that we’ll be hearing more on this.
His view is that if the judge and professionals within the proceedings have access to the latest relevant research, they may be able to resolve some matters without the use of an expert witness. You can read the full article here.
