expert witness psychologists

A psychologist is a type of expert who studies the mind and behaviour. They study the impact of formative influences such as childhood experiences, emotional development and background history. They then help people to understand their own responses and behaviour in different situations. The aim is to help people to change or modify their behaviour and reduce and distress caused to themselves and/or others.

At Carter Brown we’re happy to recommend a number of different types of psychologists. As well as cognitive assessments and capacity assessments (usually in a medico-legal capacity), they’re able to provide most types of psychological assessments, expert witness reports, support and advice.

They can be broadly classified as:

  • Clinical psychologists – work with people on their problems/illnesses
  • Counselling psychologists – employ therapy solutions though counselling
  • Educational psychologists – concerned with education and learning
  • Forensic psychologists – study crime and work with offenders
  • Neuropsychologists – concerned with the functions of the brain
  • Chartered psychologists – a psychologist who has worked for a number of years successfully, supervised by a more senior psychologist

All of our psychologists are subject to our quality standards: a rigorous recruitment process, registration with their professional bodies, and criminal record checks.

The expertise amongst our therapists includes: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Humanistic Person-Centred Therapy, Human Givens Psychotherapy, Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, and Play Therapy with Children.

These types of therapy can be performed face-to-face, and (if possible) over the telephone, email, or video link: please call us for more details.
