Quality Standards

Quality Standards

You can trust us to keep to strict quality standards.

Professional Qualifications and Experience

We only take the best experts and they must undergo a stringent recruitment process.

Carter Brown experts must be fully qualified in their respective fields, and their skills and experience are reflected on their CVs. A check on the quality of their expert witness report writing is part of the recruitment process; they must be successful at interview and complete an induction with us prior to starting work.

They must also have plenty of recent experience in practice and most continue to practice in NHS or forensic settings.

In addition, we seek feedback from every client, and always act upon this feedback – we’d prefer to lose an expert rather than risk our reputation.

Professional Memberships

All of our experts have to be registered with their relevant professional bodies: The Health and Care Professions Council (for psychologists and independent social workers) and The General Medical Council (for psychiatrists and paediatricians).

The purpose of these professional bodies is to protect, promote and maintain the health and safety of the public by ensuring proper standards are kept. They stipulate codes of practice, conduct, quality standards and ethics that our experts must all follow. Professional bodies will also stipulate supervision requirements for their members which are in addition to the support Carter Brown provides.

All of our experts undergo yearly enhanced DBS (criminal record) checks, and hold professional indemnity insurance.

Professional Partnerships

We made our reputation by providing expert witnesses to the best lawyers. Our experts take part in legal cases throughout England and Wales, making positive contributions to life-changing legal decisions. We take quality standards seriously.

We have ongoing positive relationships with the Ministry of Justice and Legal Aid Agency who consult us on important issues, and have been involved in research studies from Oxford and Coventry Universities.
